Frankie learned that a century ago, people dumped EVERYTHING down the river. Here he is in front of a display that shows all the stuff that would have washed up. He was very very grossed out by the idea of how dirty the water got.
After watching a movie on how we need to take care of our water, Frankie's group had lost of grass along the river, and was sure that all of the houses had backyards. It did make me laugh when she commented that they were sure lucky to have a backyard of their own...city girl!
After WaterWorks, we had a picnic lunch. I got Frankie a lunchable that was make your own pizza. He loved every bit of it. I do think that this was his favorite part of the day...but of course isn't lunch the best party of every day.
At the Shofuso, Frankie learned that it is the traditional Japanese custom to take off your shoes before entering a home. "Socks on wood, and shoes on stone"
He sat in traditional Japanese house on the floor, listen to stories of life five hundred years ago in a country far away.
After our tour they taught us how to make origami. Frankie did great by himself, I did help him here and there, but of course Mr. Independent, didn't need any help.
