Vacation

So, we recently got back from our vacation to the Grand Canyon. We had a great time, and took over 300 pictures, and here I have narrowed it down to just a few.
So the plan was that we were to fly into Vegas, and the rent an RV from Cruise America. We were then going then drive to the Grand Canyon making stops along the way, and eventually head back up to Vegas. It was a wonderful vacation (probably one of the best that the family had...and that includes spending a week in Disney).
We had a great time in the RV, the kids had fun eating, climbing, playing, and sleeping....EVERYWHERE!!

We found a deer farm in Williams, AZ. Here we were able to go to the farm area with some deer food, and feed the deer. There were about thirty deer, and as soon as they saw us come through the gate they all came over to us, and when they say the cup of food...well lets say they got a little aggressive. Here Frank had to physically hold one deer back so our kids wouldn't get crushed into the fence. Some of the deer even tried to eat Frank's jacket. It was an very unexpected stop on our trip that brought us many laughs.

When we made it to the Grand Canyon, it was COLD. The weather forecast was for snow, and luckily for us they were off by a day. Even though it was cold, the sun was in the sky, and the canyon was beautiful!! We can't wait to go back and see the work of God again.

I don't know how deep it is here, but it sure is deep enough to make your heart skip a beat. Luckily this is one of the few spots that had a railing.

After we left Grand Canyon, we headed to Sedona, AZ. It is beautiful!!! The sun was out, and the sky was blue, not to mention the wonderful red rocks that were all around us. If we did our trip all over again, we would probably stay longer then one night here, in fact, we thought about changing our plans and then staying here for an extra night. We will defiantly be going back here some time.

While we were in Sedona, Frankie was loving seeing all of the cactus that were there. He said that it reminded him of when Lighting McQueen went off into the cactus. I have to say that even though Cars is set on Rt. 66. I have a feeling that they took most of their back drop inspirations from Sedona. They looked just the same.

One of the many highlights from Sedona, was when we rented jeeps to go "exploring" in the back country. It was awesome!! Frank right now is driving over something that is described as "it looks like someone buried a VW bug". It was so much fun having the roof off, and being able to explore. When we go back, we will be doing this again!!

The reason we didn't stay an extra night in Sedona, is because we wanted to go to the Hoover Dam. WoW what an accomplishment for the men who built it in just a few years. It is over 600 feet in the thickest part...that is over 2 football fields. It is amazing how it all works together providing water and electric to the southern part of our country...and none of it goes to Vegas.
After we went on the tour of the Hoover Dam, we rented a boat and cruised around Lake Mead. When we found a few nice spots to take a break, the kids sat on the end of the boat and splashed their toes in the water. The water was refreshing, but a little cold, so the kids didn't want to make to big of a splash...well really they did, but I didn't want to get to wet. One on of his "I am going to get Mommy wet" kicks, Frankie fell right off the back, and went in. Thank God, he had his jacket on, and he popped right back up. He had us hold on tight to him from then on, and he didn't kick quite so hard.

After the day on the lake, we had a campfire. It was actually the first one we were aloud to have due to wind. And of course we had to roast marshmallows in order to make the great camping treat...SMORES!! (really what would camping be without Smores?)

We made our way back to Vegas, and sorry no pictures...you know "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", and so our lips are sealed. What a great trip. We have already started to plan our vacation for next year, but have no ideas....any suggestions?

You guys have great vacation ideas. Sounds like a blast! My next vacation vote is to come play with us in Montara or else maybe we could all meet up at the cabin in Yosemite?
